Abstract
The origin of the world phoniatry has been presented in brief. Some aspects of the phoniatry in work of Jan H. Chróściejewski (lived about 1555--about 1627)-"Demorbis puerorum" were described. The life and professional career of Jakób Falkowski (1775-1848) are presented. Falkowski was a priest and teacher at Szczuczyn's school. He was a first who rehabilitated a deaf boy. His scientific journey to Vienna, his engagement in this works of the Institut for the Deaf in Warsaw are described in more detail. Afterwards Falkowski was a head master of the Institut for the Deaf in Warsaw since 1817. The organisation of this Institut is depicted.
