La ciudad de Russadir cuenta para su estudio con fuentes literarias, arqueológicas y numismáticas; dicho asi, podria parecer un magnifico soporte para cualquier investigador. Sin embargo, estas fuentes son en su mayoría bastante reducidas, esporádicas e imprecisas, encontrándonos en este momento en un estadio de impass con respecto al desarrollo de dicfyas fuentes o aparición de nuevas aportaciones. En este sentido somos muchos los que venimos abogando por unas excavaciones arqueológicas sistemáticas y en profundidad, con el fin de sacar a la luz un nuevo capítulo sobre la ciudad y su entorno. El presente trabajo trata por lo tanto de hacer una descripción generalizada de la ciudad púnico-maurítana y romana, asi como de poner al día las últimas ideas e hipótesis que se han vertido sobre ella, hasta que la arqueología nos confirme o desmienta las mismas.

The town of Russadir has titerary, archaelogical and numismatic sources available for its study: this would wake it seem an ideal subject for any researcher. However, these sources are in great measure fairly limited, sporadic and inaccurate, and we find ourselves at present in a state of impasse with regard to the developement of these sources or emergence of new conthbutions. In this résped, there are many of us who support systematic and serious archaelogical excavations in order that a new chapter about the town and its environs can come to light. The present work intends to make a generalised description of the Punic- Mauritanian and Román town, as well as updating the latest ideas and hypotheses which have been made about the town, until archaelogically we may confirm or refute these ideas.
