Effect of seeding rate on yield, yield components and vegetative growth of wheat in the Mugamba region (Burundi). Thirty one trials were carried out in the farmers' fields in the Mugamba area during the 1985 second crop growing season in order to study the effect of seeding rate (110, 140 and 170 kg/ha) on yield, yield components and vegetative growth of the wheat variety Romany. The seeding rate did not increase the grain yield of wheat which varied between 0.6 and 3.5 t/ha in the farmers' fields. The increase in seeding rate did not increase in the same way the number of spikes/m2 and it decreased the number of kernels/spike, the weight of 1000 kernels and the weight of straw/plant.
