The article is focused on the perception of family and family relationship by the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, considers the features of the representation of most important sphere of private life in the individual memory, marks the Hawthorne effect on the process of recollection. The author comes to a conclusion of extremely complicated and discrepant interaction of different circumstances, defining the dynamics of family and family relationship state in the considered period of time
