Abstract
The Critical Analysis of Discourse and the Textually-Oriented Analysis of Discourse (Fairclough 1999 and 2001) propose a empiric analysis of the language material related to Social Sciences to understand speeches aired in society. It is adopted this theoretic methodological perspective to analyse news of Veja magazine to elucidate ideology and social language-speech mechanisms involved in the enunciator subject speech’s argumentation, who stands in the speech, builds his argumentation and search to act over the listener, while trying to convince him about the truth that he/she defends. To analyze this language-speech mechanisms, it will be adopted the Lakoff and Johnson (2002) perspective about metaphors and the Ducrot (1987) perspective about assumptions.
