Abstract
The following article examines the work of Sua Alteza, a Divinha, the Brazilian children’s book author, Angela Lago through the lens of both popular culture and traditional storytelling. The article first objective is to identify within the author’s “re-tellings,” the persistence of narrative models, which traditional Brazilian storytelling has long kept alive. Its second objective is to verify within the author’s story whether the narrative model used differ from those of popular cultural tradition. In addition, the article looks at the author’s narrative techniques, which in some cases bring the texts closer to the common origins of the Brazilian story-telling tradition and in other cases transport them in entirely new directions. In so doing, the article seeks to identify Angela Lago’s unique story-telling model.
