Abstract
The main objective of this research is to
investigate educational philosophies that teacher candidates adopt critical
thinking tendencies in terms of several variables. Descriptive survey model out
of scanning models has been used in the research. Subject of the study consists
of 429 teacher candidates that have been selected by simple random sampling
method. As a data collection tool, it was used in the research the Personal
Information Form, Scale of Critical Thinking Tendency and Philosophy Preference
Assessment Scale were used. Descriptive statistics and multivariate variance
analysis (MANOVA) have been used in the analysis of data. It was seen at the
end of the research that teacher candidates pointed out their opinions as “I
agree” for the critical thinking tendency and philosophical preference
assessment scales. While the Tendencies of teacher candidates show a
significant difference in terms of sex and department variables, they show no
significant difference in terms of classroom variable. While their educational
philosophies show a significant difference in terms of department and class
variables, they show no significant difference in terms of sex variable.
