The article considers the major trends in ontology and semantic web technologies in education research in Russia. The results of retrospective analysis of scientific publications for the past twenty years are presented. The relation between a multilanguage ontology of a subject domain and the information-education space shared by professional community members in different countries of the world is discussed.
