LEAP Program for English Proficiency

Jean Emily Yap June 2026

Abstract

English proficiency is a competitive edge that the past generations of Filipinos used to benefit from. It is the very core of the K-12 curriculum to provide Filipinos sufficient time to learn the English language holistically and be able to compete in the global context. This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the LEAP (Learning English Application for Pinoys) Application in enhancing the English language proficiency of the Grade 10 students. This study used a mixed- method research design. The quantitative data were analyzed using paired sample t-tests, while qualitative data were analyzed through thematic analysis. Quantitative data from pre-and post – intervention showed significant improvement of students’ English language proficiency across grammar, vocabulary and speech. Its combined pre-and post-test results revealed statistically significant differences as shown in the increase in both mean and statistical value. Qualitative feedback further revealed students’ consistent narrative testifying how the LEAP experience made it fun, motivating, engaging, and transformative despite the challenges encountered in improving one’s English language proficiency. These findings recommend LEAP Program as a valuable intervention for Filipino students in enhancing the English proficiency.
