About
Mr. Aaqib Shaheen has background in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering and completed M.Phil with Specialization in Plant Genomics and Biotechnology from Department of Plant Sciences, Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, Pakistan. I served as a Research associate at National Agriculture Research Centre in 2015 at the National biotechnology lab for the tissue culture and micropropagation of the virus free banana for the local consumer and also as a Scientific Officer at Plant Biotechnology Lab at Qarshi Research International (QRI) in 2016, Haripur, Pakistan to optimize the tissue culture protocol for the commercial purpose and molecular barcoding of the herbs utilization in the industry.
Currently, I am doing PhD in Cell Biology at State Key Laboratory of Crop Stress Adaptation and Improvement, School of Life Sciences, College of Agriculture, Henan University, Kaifeng, China, and my research direction is about functional genomics and the modern plant breeding techniques to identify QTL, fine mapping and functional characterization. Our most recent publications, NATURE PLANTS and NATURE PROTOCOL, are primarily concerned with reference genome assembly, speed breeding, and the introduction of beneficial genes from the ancestors of wheat Aegilops tauschii into the modern wheat cultivars
