Abstract

This study assessed the level of effectiveness of the National Greening Program (NGP) implementation among school heads as evaluated by teachers in District 7, Division of Valencia City, Bukidnon. Utilizing a descriptive research design, the study involved 110 classroom teachers selected through complete enumeration. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.91) and analyzed using weighted mean, standard deviation, and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient. The findings revealed that the extent of NGP practices—including information dissemination, nursery provisions, school gardening, tree planting, and waste segregation—was generally implemented to a considerable degree. Likewise, the overall level of effectiveness of these practices was rated as highly effective by the respondents, indicating that school heads were able to implement the program successfully across its key components. Furthermore, the study found a significant relationship between the extent of NGP practices and the level of effectiveness of its implementation, suggesting that stronger and more consistent practices lead to better program outcomes. These results imply that active participation, resource mobilization, and stakeholder collaboration contribute significantly to the success of environmental programs in schools. The study concludes that the National Greening Program is effectively implemented in the selected schools and plays a vital role in promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and improved school practices. It is recommended that school heads continue strengthening program implementation through enhanced community involvement, adequate resource allocation, and continuous monitoring and evaluation to sustain and further improve program effectiveness.
