Guide for Authors

How to publish in a SciMatic journal: from your account and your manuscript to peer review, the publication fee and your published article.

Running a journal? Read the guide for editors →

1 Your account

  • Register with your name, e-mail address and a password, then confirm your e-mail address. You can also sign in with Google (Gmail) or Facebook.
  • In your profile, add your ORCID iD and your affiliations (university or institution). They are printed with your name on every article you publish.

2 Choose a journal

  • Browse all journals on the Journals page. Each journal's pages show its aims and scope, editorial board, author information and archive.
  • Not sure which journal fits? Click Find Your Journal with AI on the Journals page, enter your title and abstract (at least 50 characters), and SciMatic suggests the five best-matching journals. It is free; you need to be signed in.
  • Check the journal's About page for its article processing charge before you submit.

3 Prepare your manuscript

You submit your manuscript as one Word (.docx) or PDF file of up to 20 MB. Include:

  • a title (four words or more);
  • all authors with their affiliations and e-mail addresses;
  • an abstract of 50 to 600 words (around 300 is best);
  • keywords;
  • the full text with figures and tables in place, and your references.
If the journal publishes author guidelines or a template on its Author's Info page, follow them. SciMatic reads the authors and keywords from your file, so a clearly laid-out first page saves you typing.

4 Submit

  1. Open Author Panel → New Manuscript (Create New Manuscript). Enter the title and abstract, choose the language and select the journal.
  2. Choose the article type, upload your file and click Continue.
  3. Check what SciMatic read from your file:
    • Authors: use Add Author to add co-authors by e-mail. A co-author without an account receives an invitation. If there are several authors, choose the Corresponding author, whose e-mail address must be confirmed.
    • Abstract and keywords: Suggest with AI proposes keywords if you have none.
  4. Click Submit. In the submission window you can suggest up to two reviewers. Then read the Submission Agreement, type your full name, tick the box and click Sign & Submit. By signing you confirm that:
    • the work is original and all sources are cited;
    • it is not under consideration by another journal;
    • all co-authors have approved the submission;
    • you agree to screening and peer review;
    • if the article is published, its copyright passes, on behalf of all authors, to ZincirX Inc., the publisher of SciMatic. The authors always remain credited as its authors.
Submitting is free. The submission window shows the journal's publication fee. You pay it only if your article is accepted.

5 Review and decisions

After the editors' first checks, your manuscript goes to peer review. Journals use the reviewers you suggested, their own reviewers and SciMatic's AI reviewer. You can follow every manuscript under My Manuscripts. The editors' decision is one of:

DecisionWhat it means for you
Returned for revisionsYou receive the editor's comments by e-mail. The manuscript is yours to edit again (see step 6).
TransferredThe editor found a better-fitting SciMatic journal and moved your manuscript there.
ThesisThe work reads as a thesis rather than an article. You are invited to submit it to the thesis repository or to revise it into an article.
Not acceptedThe editor explains why. This decision is final for that journal.
AcceptedYour article is accepted for publication (see step 7). Accepted articles are listed under Accepted.

6 Revisions

The "returned for revisions" e-mail links to a page with the editor's comments and the review reports. You then have two options:

  • Edit the manuscript myself (free): upload your revised file, check the details and submit again.
  • Correct with AI and resubmit (USD 25, only if the editor offers it): SciMatic's AI applies the reviewers' corrections and resubmits for you. Your balance must cover the fee, but it is charged only if the article is accepted.

7 Acceptance and the publication fee

When your article is accepted you receive the e-mail "Manuscript Accepted — Publication Fee Required". Most journals charge an article processing charge (APC) of USD 50; each journal shows its own amount.

How to pay

Open the link in the e-mail or click Pay Fee & Publish on your article, and pay within one month by:

  • credit or debit card;
  • your SciMatic balance, which you can top up on the web (USD 5 to 100) or in the SciMatic app;
  • USDT (BSC).

Your article's title, abstract and authors are listed as soon as it is accepted. The final PDF is typeset once the fee is paid. Reminders are sent 7, 20 and 28 days after acceptance. If the fee stays unpaid, the journal may send you a notice that lets you ask for more time or withdraw the article.

Some journals collect their fee themselves (prepaid journals). Their submission window tells you so, and the editorial office will contact you about payment.

8 After publication

  • Your article has its own permanent page with View PDF, Cite This Article and share buttons (LinkedIn, Facebook, X, WhatsApp, Telegram, Reddit, e-mail).
  • Publication certificate: every author can open View Publication Certificate on the article page and print it or save it as a PDF. A printed certificate posted to you costs USD 50 including shipping.
  • DOI: journals that register DOIs with Crossref add one to your article; it appears on the article page once it is registered.
  • SciChain record: each accepted article's metadata is anchored on SciMatic's blockchain, which makes the record tamper-evident.
  • Articles are published open access under the Creative Commons CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 licence: anyone can read and share them free of charge, with credit to the authors. The copyright is held by ZincirX Inc., the publisher of SciMatic.
