Abstract
Readiness of airports against emergency is very essential to aviation industry yet less explored in the literature. This study primarily assesses the readiness of airports during emergencies in Visayas and Mindanao areas of Philippines. It also investigated how the emergency management competencies of airport managers correlate with readiness. Using a descriptive correlational research design, a sample size of 389 was surveyed. Mean and standard deviations were used to describe the level of emergency management competencies and the airport readiness during emergencies. Moreover, Pearson Correlation Coefficient was used to measure relationship between variables. Results showed that there is a high level of emergency management competence and airport readiness during emergencies. In addition, airport readiness indicates a significant and positive linear relationship with emergency management competence. This highlights the importance of emergency management competence in predicting airport readiness against disasters. Consequently, such results provide significant insights for future planning and making airports more prepared for emergencies and disasters.
