Instructions for Authors

Authors should prepare their manuscripts using the official IJERI manuscript template and submit their work through the journal's online submission system or official editorial email. Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal.

Manuscripts should follow the journal's formatting and reference requirements and include all necessary sections, including an abstract, keywords, ethical declarations (when applicable), conflict of interest statement, funding information, and references. Authors are encouraged to ensure that their manuscripts have an acceptable similarity index before submission and comply with recognized standards of academic integrity.

Publication Process

All manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Educational Research and Innovation (IJERI) undergo a systematic editorial and peer-review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and compliance with scholarly publishing standards. The publication process consists of the following stages:

1. Manuscript Preparation and Submission

Authors prepare their manuscripts according to the IJERI Author Guidelines and Manuscript Template. The manuscript should include all required sections and follow the prescribed formatting, citation, and referencing style. Figures, tables, and references must be properly prepared and submitted according to the journal requirements.

2. Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, the editorial team conducts an initial assessment to determine whether the manuscript meets the journal’s basic requirements, including completeness, originality, ethical compliance, methodological quality, and alignment with the aims and scope of IJERI. Manuscripts that do not meet the minimum requirements may be returned to authors for revision before proceeding to peer review.

3. Peer Review Process

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are forwarded to qualified reviewers with expertise relevant to the topic of the study. IJERI follows a double-blind peer-review process, wherein the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential to ensure fairness, objectivity, and academic integrity.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on originality, theoretical foundation, research methodology, data analysis, contribution to knowledge, clarity of presentation, and overall scholarly quality. Reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without revision
  • Accept with minor revisions
  • Revise and resubmit (major revisions)
  • Reject

When reviewers provide conflicting recommendations, the editor may request an additional review to support an informed editorial decision.

4. Editorial Decision and Revision

The editor carefully evaluates the reviewers’ comments and makes the final decision regarding publication. If revisions are required, authors are expected to address all comments and submit a revised manuscript together with a response letter explaining the revisions made.

5. Final Preparation and Publication

Once a manuscript is accepted, it undergoes final editorial processing, formatting, and proofreading. The final version is prepared for online publication, and authors are provided with the opportunity to review the galley proof before publication. After approval of the final version, the article is published online and assigned its official publication details.

IJERI is committed to maintaining a transparent, rigorous, and ethical publication process that supports the dissemination of high-quality educational research and innovation.

Double-Blind Peer Review Process

The International Journal of Educational Research and Innovation (IJERI) follows a rigorous double-blind peer-review process, wherein the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the evaluation process. This system ensures fairness, transparency, objectivity, and academic integrity in evaluating all submitted manuscripts.

Submission Received

Once a manuscript is submitted through the official IJERI submission channel, the editorial office acknowledges receipt of the manuscript and records it for initial processing. The submission is reviewed to ensure that all required files and author information have been properly provided.

Technical Screening

The editorial team conducts an initial technical assessment to determine whether the manuscript complies with IJERI’s submission requirements. This includes checking the manuscript format, structure, completeness of required sections, adherence to citation and referencing guidelines, ethical declarations, and originality requirements. A plagiarism screening may also be conducted. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic requirements may be returned to the authors for necessary revisions before proceeding to peer review.

Editorial Assignment

After successfully passing the technical screening, the manuscript is assigned to an appropriate editor based on the subject area and scope of the study. The assigned editor oversees the review process and ensures that the manuscript undergoes appropriate evaluation by qualified reviewers.

Initial Editorial Evaluation

The assigned editor conducts a preliminary assessment to determine whether the manuscript aligns with the aims and scope of IJERI and demonstrates sufficient scholarly merit for external review. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s standards or fall outside its scope may be declined at this stage. Manuscripts considered suitable are forwarded for peer review.

Review by Peer Reviewers

Qualified reviewers with relevant expertise are invited to evaluate the anonymized manuscript. Reviewers assess the manuscript based on its originality, theoretical foundation, research design, methodology, analysis, contribution to educational knowledge, ethical considerations, and overall quality. Reviewers provide constructive comments and recommendations based on one of the following decisions:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

All reviewer comments are submitted confidentially to the editorial office.

Editorial Decision

The editor carefully reviews the recommendations and comments provided by the reviewers and makes the final editorial decision. A consolidated review report, including anonymous reviewer feedback and the editorial decision, is communicated to the author.

Revision and Resubmission

When revisions are required, authors must carefully address the reviewers’ and editor’s comments and submit a revised manuscript within the specified timeframe. Authors may also be required to provide a response letter explaining how each comment was addressed. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation or assessed by the editor depending on the extent and nature of the revisions.

Final Acceptance and Publication

Once the manuscript satisfies the requirements of the editorial and peer-review process, it is formally accepted for publication. The article undergoes final editing, formatting, and proofreading before being published online as part of the IJERI scholarly collection.

Through this rigorous double-blind peer-review process, IJERI is committed to maintaining high standards of academic quality, research integrity, and responsible scholarly communication in educational research and innovation.

Publication Ethics

IJERI adheres to the Core Practices and Ethical Guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical publishing. The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, citation manipulation, authorship misconduct, or any other form of unethical research or publication practice.

All ethical concerns are handled confidentially and fairly. When necessary, the journal will issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

Retraction and Correction Policy

Articles may be corrected or retracted when significant errors, ethical violations, or research misconduct are identified after publication. Retractions are issued only when findings are determined to be unreliable due to honest error, plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or other serious ethical concerns. Minor errors that do not affect the validity of the study will be addressed through a formal correction or erratum.

Retraction notices will remain permanently linked to the original article to ensure transparency and maintain the integrity of the academic record.

Author Responsibilities

The International Journal of Educational Research and Innovation (IJERI) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, transparency, and ethical publishing practices. Authors submitting manuscripts to IJERI are expected to comply with the following responsibilities and ethical requirements.

General Responsibilities

Authors of original research articles are responsible for presenting an accurate, objective, and comprehensive account of their research. Manuscripts should clearly describe the purpose of the study, methodology, findings, and implications while ensuring that all data, interpretations, and conclusions are reported accurately. Authors should provide sufficient details and appropriate references to allow other researchers to understand, evaluate, and potentially replicate the study.

Authors are required to prepare manuscripts according to the IJERI Author Guidelines and Manuscript Template and ensure that submissions meet the journal’s requirements regarding structure, formatting, ethical considerations, and scholarly standards.

Originality, Duplicate Publication, and Concurrent Submission

IJERI only accepts original manuscripts that have not been previously published and are not currently under review by another journal or publication outlet. Authors must confirm that their submission represents original work and has not been simultaneously submitted elsewhere.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all sources, ideas, statements, and materials from other works are properly acknowledged through appropriate citation and referencing. Any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, or unethical use of published materials is considered a violation of research integrity and may result in rejection, withdrawal, or retraction of the article.

By submitting a manuscript to IJERI, authors confirm their agreement to comply with the journal’s publication policies and ethical standards. Authors retain copyright of their work while granting IJERI the right to publish, distribute, archive, and promote the published article through appropriate academic platforms.

Participation in the Peer-Review Process

Authors are expected to actively participate in the peer-review process by responding professionally and constructively to reviewers’ and editors’ comments. When revisions are requested, authors should provide a revised manuscript within the given timeframe together with a clear explanation of how each recommendation has been addressed.

Authors are also responsible for communicating promptly with the editorial office regarding any corrections, clarifications, or concerns related to their submitted or published manuscripts. If significant errors are discovered after publication, authors must immediately notify the journal so that appropriate corrections, revisions, or other actions may be considered.

Authorship of the Manuscript

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, or writing of the research. All individuals who have made significant contributions should be appropriately recognized as co-authors.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that:

  • all eligible contributors are included in the author list;
  • all listed authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript;
  • all authors agree to the submission of the manuscript to IJERI; and
  • the order of authorship has been mutually agreed upon by all contributors.

Changes to authorship after submission, including the addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors, require the approval of all authors and the editorial office. Any authorship disputes or violations of authorship policies may result in further investigation and appropriate editorial action.

Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest and Funding Sources

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, personal, or institutional relationships that may influence or be perceived to influence the research process, interpretation of findings, or publication decision. Any potential conflicts of interest must be clearly stated in the manuscript.

Authors are also required to disclose all sources of financial support, grants, institutional assistance, or other forms of funding received for the conduct of the research. Transparency regarding funding and conflicts of interest is essential to maintaining trust and credibility in scholarly publishing.

IJERI reserves the right to investigate suspected ethical violations and take appropriate actions, including rejection, correction, expression of concern, or retraction, in accordance with established publication ethics standards and best practices.

Article Processing Charge (APC)

IJERI follows an open-access publishing model to maximize the visibility and accessibility of published research. To support editorial management, peer review, copyediting, typesetting, digital publication, website maintenance, and long-term archiving, the journal charges a reasonable Article Processing Charge (APC) for manuscripts accepted for publication.

There are no submission fees. The APC is charged only after a manuscript has successfully completed peer review and has been formally accepted for publication. Details regarding the current APC are available on the journal website.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the copyright of their published work. Articles are published under a Creative Commons license designated by the journal, allowing readers to access and share published content while ensuring appropriate attribution to the original authors.
