Dr. Javed Muhammad

Dr. Javed Muhammad has recently joined the Department of Microbiology, The University of Haripur, Pakistan as an Assistant Professor on 29th July, 2020. He is serving as General Secretary, Pakistan Biological Safety Association since 1st March, 2022. He is also serving as a Biosafety Expert with Health Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 5th April 2020 for designing and upgrading the laboratory testing facilities for coronavirus in public health sector hospitals of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. His research interest is Infectious Diseases Epidemiology, Disease Diagnostic and Surveillance and BioRisk Management. He has published more than 35 scientific publications in well reputed peer-reviewed journals. In 2019 Next Generation for Biosecurity Competition, his paper entitled “Integrating Biosecurity in low resource/developing countries: Multi-dimensional management strategy” was published as an honorable mention on the NTI website. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Swabi (UOS) w.e.f. 31st May 2018 to 28th July 2020. He worked as a Treasurer from 7th February, 2020 to 28th Februry, 2022. Chapter Head, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 25th July 2018 to 25th January 2020 and as a Program Coordinator for PBSA from April 2016 to May 2018. He remained as a visiting scholar at Pennsylvania State University, USA from Feb-Aug, 2015 and remained Research Associate in USAID and DETRA funded projects at University Diagnostic lab, UVAS, Lahore which were focused on biologic production of Mycoplasma gallisepticum and spatial epidemiology of Bacillus anthracis, Burkholderia mallei, Yersinia pestis, Coxiella burnetii and Francisella tularensis He also worked as an International Expert in EU CBRN COE Project 46 from Dec, 2016 to Jul, 2018. He is an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Lead Assessor, IFBA certified professional, PBSA Master Trainer and WHO certified Shipper and working as a trainer on enhancing biosafety and biosecurity measures at both national and international forum in collaboration with FIC, NIH, USA, HSP, USA, and ASM. Dr. Muhammad also has professional membership of PBSA, MMIDSP, PSM, GHSA and ASM. He also participated in many scientific forums at different countries including USA, China, Croatia, Spain, Thailand, Dubai, Laos, and Philippine under different prestigious travel grant awards.
