School Dress Code Policy on Student Discipline Among Senior High School Students

This study examined the relationship between the school dress code policy and student discipline among Senior High School students at Halapitan National High School during the School Year 2025–2026. Specifically, it aimed to determine the level of implementation of the school dress code policy in terms of dress code clarity and dress code implementation, as well as the level of student discipline in terms of school behavior and self-control. The study also sought to determine whether a significant relationship exists between the school dress code policy and student discipline. A quantitative descriptive-correlational research design was employed in this study. Two hundred (200) Grade 11 and Grade 12 students were selected through purposive sampling from a total population of 751 students. A researcher-made questionnaire using a four-point Likert scale was utilized to gather data. The instrument was validated by experts and tested for reliability using Cronbach’s Alpha to ensure consistency of responses. Data were analyzed using weighted mean, standard deviation, and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient (r) to determine both the levels of variables and the significance of their relationship. The findings revealed that the school dress code policy was Highly Implemented in terms of clarity and implementation. Similarly, student discipline was rated Highly Implemented in both school behavior and self-control. Most importantly, the results showed a strong and statistically significant relationship between school dress code policy and student discipline (r = 0.706, p = .001). This indicates that clear communication and fair enforcement of dress code policies positively influence students’ discipline. The study concludes that a well-implemented dress code policy plays a vital role in promoting responsibility, order, and self-discipline among students in the school environment.
