Abstract

This study investigated the transformative leadership strategies of school leaders and their influence on the performance of Key Stage 1 (KS1) teachers. Specifically, it examined school leaders’ transformative leadership practices in terms of vision setting and inspirational motivation, individualized consideration, intellectual stimulation, modeling ethical leadership and integrity, and building a collaborative and inclusive culture. It also determined the extent to which these leadership strategies influenced teachers’ instructional effectiveness, professional growth and development, motivation and job satisfaction, collaboration and teamwork, and student learning outcomes. The study employed a quantitative descriptive research design. Data were collected from purposively selected school leaders and KS1 teachers using a researcher-made questionnaire that underwent expert validation and reliability testing. Descriptive statistics, including weighted mean and standard deviation, were utilized to analyze the data. Findings revealed that school leaders demonstrated an excellent level of transformative leadership strategies, obtaining an overall mean of 3.28 (SD = 0.341). Among the dimensions, vision setting and inspirational motivation, individualized consideration, and intellectual stimulation obtained the highest mean ratings (M = 3.33), while modeling ethical leadership and integrity (M = 3.19) and building a collaborative and inclusive culture (M = 3.21) received relatively lower assessments. Teachers likewise perceived school leaders’ transformative leadership strategies as having a strong influence on their performance, with an overall mean of 3.47 (SD = 0.474). Instructional effectiveness (M = 3.53) and professional growth and development (M = 3.52) emerged as the most highly influenced dimensions. The study concludes that transformative leadership practices significantly contribute to fostering teacher development, instructional effectiveness, and school improvement. Strengthening ethical leadership and collaborative school culture is recommended to enhance educational outcomes and organizational effectiveness further.
