Mastery, Challenges, and Opportunities of Technology and Livelihood Education Teachers in Relation to Performance: Basis for the Enhanced Capability Building Program

Abstract

The study determined the mastery, challenges, and opportunities of TLE teachers in relation to performance: basis for the enhancement of training programs.  There were 107 Grade 9 and 10 TLE teachers in the Division of Bago City for School Year 2023-2024. They were taken as subject and respondents of the study. The research instruments of this study were a researcher-made to measure the level of mastery of TLE teachers, their challenges and opportunities encountered.  It was validated by five experts in the field of education and it underwent reliability testing. Frequency, percent distribution, mean, T test, ANOVA, and Pearson Product Moment Coefficient of Correlation were the statistical tools used to analyze the data. The result shows that most of the respondents were female, were in the age range of 31- 40 years old, teaching for 16 years and above, married, and in Bachelor's degree. The TLE teachers were on the level of near mastery, have a moderate level of challenges encountered in teaching, have low level of opportunities, and with outstanding performance. There are significant differences in the mastery of TLE teachers when they are grouped according to their age and highest educational attainment. A significant differences in the challenges encountered by TLE teachers when they are grouped according to their age and highest educational attainment were also noted. Furthermore, there are significant differences in the opportunities obtained by TLE teachers when they are grouped according to their age, length of service, and highest educational attainment. A significant relationships were noted between the mastery of TLE teachers and their performance, between the level of challenges encountered and their performance, and between opportunities obtained by TLE teachers and their performance.
