The aim of foreign language teaching is to make students gain thebasic language skills such as reading, speaking, writing and listeningcomprehension. The preparation of subject content and configuration ofmaterials are formed in line with this purpose. Translation contributesto these developments of skills significantly. But this translation’scontribution has been ignored all the time in teaching process of foreignlanguage. But being made in support of teaching methods are thetalents translations in the native language as well as the targetlanguage. Besides, thanks to translation events, simplify the transferfrom gain grammatical instructions. Next to it is the transmission ofgrammatical structures, which is also supported by the EuropeanFramework, facilitates. The aim of this study is to point out the positivecontributions to the development of translation event so perceptualskills that including listening and reading comprehension in teaching offoreign language. How to improve both types of skills has been showedwith applicable examples in the class environment. It’s beenexperienced that translation events improve reading and listeningcomprehension skills in main language as well as target language andalso enriches foreign language student’s vocabulary. And it has beenseen that translation makes them gain grammatical instructions moreconsciously. It was determined that translation exercises from readingand listening texts expand the perception fortune, of learners andfacilitate sense-from the text context. Also be obtained by reading andlistening to their language skills in both languages continued visuallearners, using these assets, rather than memorized expressions canmake personal remarks. The enrichment of the vocabulary of learnersin the reciprocal languages is another contribution of the translation.
Yabancı dil öğretiminde amaç, öğrenciye duyduğunu anlama, okuduğunu anlama, konuşma ve yazma gibi temel dil becerilerini kazandırmaktır. Ders içeriğinin hazırlanışı ve araç gereçlerin yapılandırılması da yine bu amaç doğrultusunda oluşturulur. Çevirinin bu becerilerin geliştirilmesinde önemli katkıları vardır. Ancak yabancı dil öğretim sürecinde çeviri etkinliğinin bu katkısı hep göz ardı edilmiştir. Oysa dil öğretim yöntemleri eşliğinde yapılan çeviri etkinlikleri hem ana dil; hem de amaç dildeki becerileri geliştirir. Bunun yanında çeviri etkinliği sayesinde, Avrupa Dilleri Ortak Çerçeve Programı‘nın da bu temel becerilerden ayrı tutmadığı, dilbilgisel yapıların aktarımı kolaylaşır. Bu çalışmanın amacı yabancı dil öğretiminde çeviri etkinliğinin algısal becerilerden olan duyduğunu anlama ve okuduğunu anlama becerilerinin gelişimine olumlu katkılarına işaret etmektir. Her iki beceri türünün nasıl geliştirilebileceği, ders ortamında uygulanabilecek örneklerle gösterilmiştir. Çeviri etkinliğinin gerek ana dilde, gerekse amaç dilde duyduğunu anlama ve okuduğunu anlama becerilerini geliştirdiği, ayrıca yabancı dil öğrenenlerin kelime hazinesini zenginleştirdiği ve dilbilgisel yapıları daha bilinçli kavradıkları görülmüştür. Okuma ve dinleme metinlerinden yapılan çeviri alıştırmalarının öğrenenlerin algılama yetisini ilerleterek metnin bağlamından anlam çıkarabilmeyi geliştirdiği saptanmıştır. Ayrıca karşılıklı iki dil becerisini okuyarak ve dinleyerek geliştiren öğrenenler, bu edinimleri sayesinde amaç dilde ezberlenmiş kalıp ifadeler yerine duruma uygun bireysel ifadeler kullanabileceklerdir. Öğrenenlerin her iki dildeki sözcük dağarcının zenginleşmesi çeviri etkinliğinin diğer katkılarındandır.
