Abstract
Two micro-cycles stand out in the structure of the Symphony «The Legend of the Bucium» by V. Ciolac: the first one reflects the program motives of the musical landscape and rural life, the second cycle, in a generalized symbolic aspect, reveals the core features of the national Moldovan character. The dramaturgical direction of both micro-cycles stipulated, on the basis of the folklore genre models, a wide spectrum of theme development methods. Among them are: the exploration of the potential alternance of melodic modes, the use of motivic combinatorics, the richest palette of melodic variativity, of the instrumental dialogue, techniques of rhythmic-harmonic polyostinato.
