This article analyzes the representations of skateboarding in twoBrazilian vehicles – Fluir and Yeah! – in the 1980s, through the method ofcontent analysis. This is done looking at a key figure in the media coverageof the sport in that period: Paulo “Anshowinhas” de Oliveira Brito. He beganin Fluir in 1983 and in 1986 he created his own publication – Yeah!. Theanalysis can shed light on relevant aspects of the relationship between media,youth and culture in the 1980s.
