intergenerational relationships: the barriers of institutionalization
Abstract
The current context of demographical and social changes underlines the increase in the number of old people and in the institutionalization of childhood and old age. The Parish Centre of São Bernardo (CPSB) is a multigenerational institution that has tried to promote activities involving children and old people; however recognizing difficulties in their concretization. This case study aims to analyze how the institutionalization obstacles the implementation of intergenerational activities.
