RESUMEN

El objetivo del presente artículo es analizar del tema del arte sobre el tema la prevalencia del VIH/SIDA a nivel mundial y las conductas de riesgo que incrementan la probabilidad de infección y prevención y tratamiento de esta epidemia. Se presenta una visión general del problema del SIDA en el mundo, se analizan sus aspectos epidemiológicos, haciendo hincapié en su historia, en los mecanismos de transmisión, y en los factores psicosociales y comportamentales asociados al riesgo de contraer dicha enfermedad, e igualmente se plantean ciertos mecanismos de prevención y tratamiento. Se concluye con una corta reflexión de cómo afrontar esta enfermedad considerada por muchos como la más devastadora de todos los tiempos, superando a la peste negra. (Duazary 2008; 129-140)

ABSTRACT

The objective of the present revision is to analyse the prevalence of HIV/AIDS globally and risk behaviors that increase the likelihood of infection, prevention and treatment of this epidemic. It presents an overview of the problem of AIDS in the world, discusses their epidemiological aspects, emphasizing its history, the mechanisms of transmission, and the behavioral and psychosocial factors associated with the risk of contracting this disease, and also raises certain mechanisms for prevention and treatment. It concludes with a short discussion of how to deal with this disease considered by many as the most devastating of all time, surpassing the black plague.
