Esta resenha apresenta um estudo, resultado de pesquisa com o apoio do CNPq, que o professor Juremir Machado da Silva desenvolveu sobre a justaposição de dois termos considerados antagônicos ("tecnologia" e "imaginário"), propondo uma nova hipótese sobre a relação entre emissores e receptores, substituindo a idéia de manipulação da mí­dia, vigente até hoje, pelos conceitos de sedução e construção de imaginários. <b>Palavras-chave</b> imaginário, tecnologia, controle, manipulação, sedução <b>Abstract</b> This review presents a study, result of years of research with the support of the CNPq, that Professor Juremir Machado da Silva developed on the juxtaposition of two words ("technology" and "imaginary") viewed as antagonistic to each other. He then proposes a new hypothesis about the relationship between emitters and receptors, by replacing the idea of media manipulation, which is still currently used, for the notions of seduction and imaginary building. <b>Key words</b> imaginary, technology, control, manipulation, seduction
