{"abstract":"This study aimed to determine the impacts of oral communication and social skills in promoting the local history of Gumaca, Quezon. Using a descriptive method and purposive sampling, 40 selected Social Studies teachers in Gumaca, Quezon, were surveyed. Most respondents were female (60%) and aged 45 and above (35%). The study revealed a grand mean of 4.64, interpreted as “Strongly Agree,” indicating that oral communication is highly effective in promoting local history. The highest mean (4.75) was for oral communication making information easier to understand, while the lowest (4.47) was for building unity. Respondents strongly agreed that cooperative discussions build a stronger appreciation of Gumaca’s historical identity (mean 4.52), and that historical learning becomes more engaging through social interaction (mean 4.37). The Kruskal-Wallis H-Test showed a significant difference in perceived impacts based on age, but no significant difference based on sex. Recommendations included providing LGUs with insights on communication and social interaction, raising awareness among community members, improving teaching strategies for educators, enhancing audience engagement for tourism officers, and using this study as a reference for future research.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Cathereen Quijano","Maria Celerina Oreta","Gil Segui","Marites Tañada"],"date":"2026-05-29","doi":"10.70838/pemj.570308","id":7985,"issue":3,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"ca599d6d7b57d521bfea549915b47b9bac696a94575b3df45fedfd26c0a9a3a9","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Impacts of Oral Communication and Social Skills in Promoting Local History of Gumaca, Quezon","volume":57}
