This study aimed to determine if the level of basic psychological needs and level of motivation can influence the academic performance of junior high school students in Mathematics. Correlation and regression analysis showed that the basic psychological needs in terms of autonomy, competence and relatedness can influence the academic performance of junior high school students in Mathematics, which means that the lower the level of basic psychological needs, the better the academic performance of students.
