Abstract
This study aims to determine the status of the implementation of the Public Schools’ Disaster Risk Reduction Management Program in District 2 of Masbate City Division for the school year 2022-2023, along with disaster preparedness, disaster management, and disaster mitigation. A quantitative research design is used in this study, utilizing the descriptive survey of research in collecting data through survey questionnaires from the members of the school Disaster Control Group. The members of the school disaster control groups in the city of Masbate division are female-dominated. The majority are middle-aged teachers who aim to grow professionally by pursuing graduate studies and are already seasoned, as they have already served the department for more than 16 years. This study concluded that all the schools in the city of Masbate division practice all the necessary disaster preparedness, management, and mitigation practices. In general, there were no best practices observed in the city of Masbate division since a “Highly Practiced” overall average weighted mean was not obtained. Finally, the results of this study recommend that a more intensive training program should be designed, formulated, and implemented to upgrade the skills and competencies of school managers in managing disasters in the school in order for them to be more equipped in responding to disasters. The good practices of school managers in disaster risk reduction management should be continued and expanded. Lastly, innovations in activities dealing with disasters should be made to upgrade the practices of schools in disaster risk reduction.
