Abstract
An inventory of the moss flora and their microhabitats along the stream flow of Baganga Protected Landscape, Davao Oriental, was assessed. The transect walk survey method was employed. Taxonomic data results of mosses revealed 24 species, 5 families, and 11 genera. The family of Hypnaceae obtained the most species-rich, in their order: Calymperaceae, Neckeraceae, Thuidiaceae, and Leucobryaceae, with the fewest species. On ecology and conservation status, most species were confined to tree barks and tree trunks, with a few species thriving on moist soils and rocks. Local assessments indicate abundance, and some are rare in their distributions. One species, Thuidium benguetense, is endemic. In the Inventory of Moss Flora and Their Microhabitats at the Vicinity of Stream Flow of Baganga Protected Landscape, Davao Oriental, Philippines, conservation status by IUCN, the majority of the moss species were not evaluated, and a few were of least concern. This research finding obtained as new moss records for the locality. The overall observations on the species richness and ecological status of the moss flora in Baganga Protected Landscape along geological stream flow require additional exploration through floristic and inventory activities, and the need to correlate the species with climatic factors affecting their distributions.
