{"abstract":"The COVID-19 pandemic presented global challenges to education, particularly with distance learning. This study aimed to illustrate and determine Grade 10 junior high school students' perspectives on learning mathematics during the COVID-19 crisis and their preferences for continuing distance learning or returning to traditional face-to-face classes. A quantitative approach with a descriptive research design was employed, utilizing a developed and validated survey questionnaire. The sampling population consisted of 150 randomly chosen junior high school students from private and public schools in Agusan del Sur and parts of Butuan City. Descriptive statistical treatment was used to obtain mean values and standard deviations. Findings showed an overall weighted mean value of 3.92 with a standard deviation of 0.95, indicating that respondents \"agree\" with a \"high\" extent of effect regarding their perceptions of learning math at a distance due to COVID-19. A significant majority, 142 responses (94.67%), indicated students preferred face-to-face classes over distance learning. Future research could explore learning styles and detailed participant viewpoints through a qualitative approach, also examining the impact of teaching techniques on students’ impressions of different learning modalities.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Mariamae Egtob","Vincent Sawate","Ronnie Castillo","Ailyn Pacaoncis","Chona Ann Ricafort","Jeffry Saro"],"date":"2022-12-16","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.7444465","id":862,"issue":2,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"a7bf28982406d8029dfa9e1b6d4dbfd23e17ebe652d48f20cd34347ecd5a2999","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Perspective of Junior High School Students on Learning Mathematics: Learning at the Distance Due to COVID-19","volume":6}
