{"abstract":"This descriptive quantitative study investigated the extent of instructional practices in numeracy among Grade 3 teachers, including the use of manipulative materials, problem-solving strategies, communicating mathematics ideas, instructional strategies, and assessment practices, and their relationship with teacher profile variables. A survey questionnaire was administered to 55 Grade 3 teachers. The majority of respondents were aged 41 and above (58.2%), female (89.1%), married (76.4%), had MA academic requirements (43.6%), 16-20 years of teaching experience (30.9%), attended 1-5 relevant trainings (52.7%), and conducted 1-3 action research in mathematics (81.5%). The overall weighted mean for instructional practices was 4.33, indicating practices were “Practiced.” No significant differences were found in instructional practices across most profile variables, except for highest educational attainment and training attended. Similarly, no significant relationship was observed between instructional practices and profile variables, except for training attended. Recommendations include teachers pursuing higher education and professional development, continuously enhancing numeracy instructional practices, exploring more relevant variables for benchmarking, and conducting further research from different perspectives.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Lorie Jane Pletchetero","Edgar Olua"],"date":"2026-07-09","doi":"10.70838/pemj.590803","id":8425,"issue":8,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"2ec7d0c9ac10c096023dede5be98dabb6ddc6fa812b8a42f223387b1d1400629","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Instructional Practices of Grade 3 Teachers in Numeracy: Basis for Enhancing the Numeracy Program","volume":59}
