{"abstract":"Teacher professional development remains a critical concern in contemporary education, particularly as educators navigate increasing institutional demands, evolving instructional expectations, and the need for continuous reflective practice. Despite growing scholarship on teacher development, limited studies have explored how teachers’ reflective narratives shape their professional growth within the context of everyday school experiences. Addressing this gap, this study examined the reflective narratives of elementary teachers to identify the challenges, coping strategies, and insights that influence their professional growth and resilience. Employing a qualitative narrative inquiry within a narratological framework, the study utilized in-depth interviews with five purposively selected teachers from Jose C. Catolico Sr. Elementary School aged 30 to 40. The small sample size enabled an in-depth exploration of participants’ lived experiences and personal meaning-making processes. Data were thematically analyzed to capture recurring patterns across narratives. Findings revealed major challenges related to time management, institutional policy pressures, financial constraints, work–life balance, and limited access to professional development opportunities. Participants addressed these challenges through adaptive strategies such as proactive planning, self-care practices, engagement in online learning, and seeking social and professional support. Their narratives further emphasized the importance of adaptability, supportive professional environments, and lifelong learning in sustaining professional growth. The study contributes to the discourse on reflective practice by highlighting how teachers’ lived experiences and coping mechanisms inform professional resilience, underscoring the need for accessible and sustained support systems for educators’ continuous development.","abstract_source":"original","authors":["Quennie Rose Nale","Emie Genton"],"date":"2026-06-13","doi":"10.70838/pemj.571003","id":8096,"issue":10,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"b303e55885bd1c4bd1b42a7f1948a8d4093a17c0a7bd7bb6b54e6509d7759fc5","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Teachers’ Reflective Narratives: Their Personal Discourses on Professional Advancement","volume":57}
