{"abstract":"The rise of different forms of media provides a resourceful database for language researchers through a new breed of language. This study focuses on the Pinoy slang neologisms found from the movie, Momol Nights by Benedict Mique Jr., which in many ways affects the netizens in terms of communication. The collected data are examined empirically to figure out the characteristics of Pinoy slang neologisms and their patterns of word formation. It suggests that the most frequently occurring word-formation process of Pinoy slang are Borrowing, Acronym, Coinage, Multiple Process, Conversion, and Blending. The Pinoy slang words were also classified into 5 types: Fresh and Creative, Flippant, Imitative, Acronym, and Clipping. This study has proven that the diversity of word-formation processes and types of Pinoy slang words may shed light on the creativity of language and for better understanding of these new words and to educate students and netizens to the correct usage of slangs on the internet.","abstract_source":"original","authors":["Johara Louise Temporosa"],"date":"2022-11-26","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.7364278","id":798,"issue":10,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"870f49b94b546c32e30a8866bf6ed7d45a8a85ebd59cda589071b92ebd94cb6b","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Morphological Analysis of Filipino Slang Words","volume":5}
