{"abstract":"This study examined the hydration behaviors of Grade 11 and 12 students and school personnel at the University of Makati during the 2024-2025 academic year, intending to inform potential water-related health initiatives. Using a descriptive-correlational-comparative quantitative design, data were collected from 150 senior high school students and 30 school personnel through a validated questionnaire. The study quantified daily water intake, drinking frequency during school hours, and the frequency of self-reported dehydration-related symptoms using structured Likert-type measurement, along with demographic factors including age, sex, and grade level for students, and age, sex, and position for personnel. Findings revealed that both students and personnel generally practiced healthy hydration behaviors, with high mean scores across daily water consumption, frequency of drinking during school hours, and environmental support. Dehydration symptoms were moderately present, suggesting occasional challenges despite generally positive hydration practices. No significant differences were observed between students and personnel in hydration behaviors, while demographic factors showed limited correlations; however, among personnel, female staff reported more dehydration symptoms and lower perceived support than males (r = -0.500, p = 0.005). Overall, the study highlights the positive role of institutional environments in supporting hydration but identifies the need for gender-sensitive strategies and interventions. Based on the findings, the Water-Bell Initiative is proposed to promote consistent water consumption through structured hydration reminders, accessible water stations, and educational materials, fostering a healthier and more energized academic community.","abstract_source":"original","authors":["Camille Marmol"],"date":"2026-04-06","doi":"10.70838/pemj.540608","id":7539,"issue":6,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"c8cb5ecbf796d546121a878185072ebda63f123dc77b87e0b7aef49757da563f","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Hydration-Related Behaviors and Symptom Patterns of Senior High School Students and School Personnel at a Local University: Basis for Water Project","volume":54}
