{"abstract":"This study investigated the relationship between discrimination, resilience, and psychological well-being among 100 lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) adults, examining resilience as a protective factor against stigma. A quantitative, cross-sectional design utilized a structured survey questionnaire with sections on demographics, discrimination experiences, resilience (adapted from the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale), and psychological well-being (Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being Scales). Descriptive and inferential statistics were used. Results showed LGBT individuals experience moderate discrimination in social, employment, and community settings, negatively impacting psychological well-being through increased stress, lower self-acceptance, and reduced life satisfaction. However, resilience played a buffering role; respondents with higher resilience maintained better psychological health, demonstrating greater adaptability, coping skills, and optimism despite discrimination. These findings support Meyer’s (2003) Minority Stress Theory and Connor & Davidson’s (2003) resilience framework. The study emphasizes the importance of programs, policies, and community initiatives that strengthen resilience among LGBT individuals to improve mental health and well-being, even where discrimination persists, and highlights the need for inclusive strategies that mitigate discrimination and foster resilience within LGBT communities.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Nasrolah Amil"],"date":"2025-12-04","doi":"10.70838/pemj.490910","id":6803,"issue":9,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"6097deac86a0050387265f4553a72398d8b97a72f874678244745cdafccee2e0","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Discrimination, Resilience, and Psychological Well-Being Among LGBT Adults: A Cross-Sectional Study","volume":49}
