{"abstract":"This descriptive correlational study assessed stakeholder involvement and leadership practices of school leaders in implementing sustainable development initiatives at select schools in Golovin, Alaska, USA. A modified instrument was used with 160 teacher respondents and 50 school leader respondents, totaling 210 participants, selected via purposive sampling. Findings revealed heavy stakeholder involvement in sustainable development efforts, including planning, learner achievement, school programs and reforms, and monitoring and evaluation. Leadership in education and classroom instruction showed vastly different perspectives on measuring stakeholder participation. School leaders excelled in implementing sustainable development programs through effective leadership and governance, curriculum and learning, accountability and continuous improvement, and resource management practices. There was a significant difference between school leaders' and teachers' assessments of leadership practices in these areas. School leaders' leadership approaches in executing sustainable development programs were significantly related to the extent of stakeholder involvement. Recommendations include encouraging active involvement of teachers, students, and community members; implementing professional development in transformational and participative leadership; integrating sustainability concepts across subjects; and developing systems to monitor progress and evaluate impact.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Rosette Javier","Jay Baylon"],"date":"2025-08-23","doi":"10.70838/pemj.450801","id":6240,"issue":8,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"015b125b5b03c76d5ebd739b57382c65f7dbe026f5cdc69cee3a74da326f7710","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Stakeholder Involvement and Leadership Practices of School Leaders in Implementing Sustainable Development Initiatives at Select Schools in Alaska, USA: Basis for Framework Development","volume":45}
