{"abstract":"This descriptive correlational study assessed the impact of physical plant and facility management skills of school administrators on workplace safety in selected institutions in Palawan, aiming to inform model development. Using a modified instrument, data were collected from 150 teacher respondents and 30 school head respondents, totaling 180, selected via purposive sampling. Findings indicated school administrators are proficient in managing physical facilities for educational programs, resource utilization, maintenance, environmental enhancement, and auditing. However, school heads and teachers held dramatically different perspectives on administrators' physical plant and facilities management abilities. Workplace safety was a top priority in institutions managing school operations, focusing on teaching and learning, and prioritizing safety and well-being. There was also substantial variation in school heads' and instructors' judgments of workplace safety across these areas. A notable correlation existed between administrators' proficiency in physical plant and facility management and the degree of workplace safety observed. However, these competencies did not have a notable effect on workplace safety within the chosen institutions. Recommendations included continuous professional development for administrators in facility management and safety, regular inspections, and encouraging prompt reporting of safety concerns by teachers and students.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Marites Ortega","Jay Baylon"],"date":"2025-08-22","doi":"10.70838/pemj.450708","id":6231,"issue":7,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"ae137cab0e8e48a73527e71a964b4355c2d518c76e36efb2813fddabf7645b3a","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"The Impact of Physical Plant and Facility Management Skills of School Heads on the Workplace Safety in Select Institutions in Palawan Towards Model Development","volume":45}
