{"abstract":"This study assessed the impact of innovative curricular models on the social and emotional development of students with disabilities at select schools in Dubai, UAE, to inform a strategic development framework. Using a descriptive correlational design, the study investigated the relationship between innovative curricular models and the social and emotional development of students with disabilities, as perceived by 120 teacher respondents. Findings indicated that diverse curricular content, peer interaction, collaborative learning, cultural relevance, sensitivity, and universal design for learning principles are instrumental in fostering social development. Furthermore, incorporating social-emotional learning elements, adaptable teaching methods, encouraging self-expression and emotional awareness, and establishing supportive learning environments are significant for emotional development. A notable correlation and substantial effect were found between innovative curricular models and the enhancement of social and emotional development in students with disabilities. Recommendations include teachers incorporating social-emotional learning activities and flexible teaching strategies, students actively engaging in these activities, and school administrators providing professional development on implementing innovative curricular models.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Jennifer Makalintal","Jay Baylon"],"date":"2025-08-15","doi":"10.70838/pemj.450202","id":6166,"issue":2,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"c2d7a770fec196e647259cb25e327b58197c801e57a115a1110b4a83cb71dcac","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"The Impact of Innovative Curricular Models for Promoting Social and Emotional Development of Students with Disabilities at Select Schools in Dubai, UAE","volume":45}
