{"abstract":"This descriptive study investigated the preservation of Jota Gumaqueña as a representation of Gumaca culture among 100 selected residents in the poblacion area of Gumaca, Quezon, using simple random sampling. The respondents' profiles showed that 28% were aged 19-23 years old, 61% were female, and 12% were from Barangay Villa Nava. The study determined ways of preserving Jota Gumaqueña in terms of learning and performing the dance, preserving unique tradition, and reflecting cultural heritage and identity. Most respondents agreed on preservation in terms of learning and performing the dance (average mean 3.990, \"Agree\"), preserving unique tradition (average mean 3.840, \"Agree\"), and reflecting cultural heritage and identity (average mean 3.988, \"Agree\"). The Kruskal Wallis H-Test indicated no significant difference in the perceived preservation of Jota Gumaqueña when respondents were grouped by age, sex, and address, leading to the acceptance of the null hypothesis. Recommendations include community learning and performance of Jota Gumaqueña, education by Barangay Officials on its importance, and youth understanding of its preservation and representation.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Sophia Loren Lanante","Maria Celerina Oreta","Sheena Mae Espiritu","Gil Segui"],"date":"2025-08-13","doi":"10.70838/pemj.441001","id":6132,"issue":10,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"88740cbffc41dcad84ede90425d6115732b1311c7d7d7f62a2bfcf3c1ac89e0c","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Preservation of Jota Gumaqueña as a Representation of Gumaca Culture","volume":44}
