{"abstract":"This study assessed the relationship between public school personnel’s motivation and competence and their performance, specifically examining their performance level, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, and competence across technical, communication, organizational, problem-solving, teamwork, and professionalism aspects. Utilizing a descriptive-correlational design, the study employed mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s correlation for statistical analysis. Data was collected from sixty-nine non-teaching personnel from schools in Valencia City using a developed motivation and competence assessment survey questionnaire and their latest performance ratings. Results indicated that public school personnel’s performance was generally \"outstanding,\" with very high levels of both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and competence. The study found a positive association between motivation and performance, and a strong positive association between competence and performance. It is suggested that schools nurture internal motivation through meaningful tasks, implement regular training for skill enhancement, encourage performance reflection, and emphasize ethics and respectful behavior. School leaders are crucial in clarifying performance expectations and linking individual contributions to overall school success.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Jane Leynie Sumondong","Anjero Marcia"],"date":"2025-08-12","doi":"10.70838/pemj.440807","id":6117,"issue":8,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"b5e79c702dfbfdf2d8d59fd74d6f75021ffcbaa9e6d6b295e1d301416b3df6e7","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Public Schools Personnels’ Motivation and Competence and their Performance","volume":44}
