{"abstract":"This descriptive study, entitled “Impacts of Showcasing Filipino culture through music as perceived by selected residents in Gumaca, Quezon,” investigated the impacts of showcasing Filipino culture through music in terms of visualizing life and telling stories, helping people understand the country better, and preserving cultural heritage for future generations. A survey questionnaire was administered to 100 residents from poblacion barangays in Gumaca, Quezon, selected using simple random sampling. Statistical analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, ranking, and the Kruskal-Wallis H-test. Findings indicated that most respondents were 27 years old and above, predominantly female, and 49% were students. PPOP groups were the most listened-to artists, with 38% of respondents. The study revealed strong agreement on the impacts of showcasing Filipino culture through music: an average mean of 4.23 for visualizing life and telling stories, 4.25 for helping people understand the country better, and 4.25 for preserving cultural heritage and handing it to the next generation. The Kruskal-Wallis H-test showed a significant difference in perceived impacts when respondents were grouped by age and type of artist, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis for these variables. Conversely, no significant difference was found when respondents were grouped by sex and occupation, leading to the acceptance of the null hypothesis for these variables.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Lea Villapando","Melchor Espiritu","Maria Celerina Oreta","Gil Segui"],"date":"2025-08-11","doi":"10.70838/pemj.440709","id":6108,"issue":7,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"0e78e799c9af05f2dfa124fc90217879801ba013b6a5899e5fe4c51f23559861","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Impacts of Showcasing Filipino Culture through Music as Perceived by Selected Residents of Gumaca, Quezon","volume":44}
