{"abstract":"This quantitative descriptive study investigated Grade III learners’ beliefs in learning mathematics and their numeracy skills at Cluster 3 of Schools Division of Bais City in the School Year 2024-2025. Data were gathered using a questionnaire and analyzed with percentage, frequency, weighted mean, and chi-square. Results indicate that learners hold positive beliefs, viewing math as learnable, useful daily, and an exciting subject comparable to a puzzle or game. They recognize its importance in activities like cooking, shopping, and managing finances. More than half of the Grade III learners are numerates, and their positive mathematics beliefs reflect strong confidence and engagement. Learners' beliefs about mathematics are not significantly influenced by their demographic profiles. Given that nearly half of Grade III learners are non-numerates despite positive beliefs, interventions should focus on enhancing foundational skills while sustaining motivation. Recommended strategies include incorporating real-world applications like budgeting and cooking measurements, using visual aids and interactive tools, promoting a growth mindset, and implementing gamified learning and hands-on activities. Scaffolded instruction and peer mentoring can also reinforce skills and support learning.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Stephanie Claire Español"],"date":"2025-07-02","doi":"10.70838/pemj.410609","id":5698,"issue":6,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"a5b5ab40f30de033402135b9ae83eabc396fbba64130312fecf3d66c06edab5d","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Learners’ Beliefs in Learning Mathematics and their Numeracy Skills: An Intervention Program","volume":41}
