{"abstract":"This descriptive study assessed the emergency room (ER) practices of 60 nurses in selected hospitals in Eastern Pangasinan during the second semester of Academic Year 2024–2025, using a validated survey questionnaire. Most respondents were female (75%), aged 26–35 years (58.3%), single (60%), and held a bachelor’s degree (83.3%). The majority were staff nurses (86.7%), with 43.3% having 1–5 years of ER experience, and 65% having attended three or more relevant emergency nursing seminars. ER practices were rated as “Often Practiced,” showing consistent adherence to protocols. High practice areas included initial assessment, airway management, and coordination with physicians, while advanced interventions and documentation under pressure were identified for improvement. Significant differences in practices were found based on years of ER experience, number of training courses, and facility category. No significant differences were observed based on age, sex, civil status, educational attainment, or position. Recommendations include enhancing professional development programs, especially for less experienced nurses and those with limited training, and investing in standardized protocols across facilities to improve emergency care quality.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Manuel Fajardo","Priscilla Baun"],"date":"2025-06-11","doi":"10.70838/pemj.391007","id":5513,"issue":10,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"6ee87f93bd3900071abfed00d79c3ac2dc4d50e0ccaab9528c94be9bd3380915","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Emergency Practices in Responding to Critically Ill Patients: Basis for an Evidence-Based Practice","volume":39}
