{"abstract":"This study determined the effects of peer pressure on the habit-forming behavior of 80 selected Senior High School students in a private school in Gumaca, Quezon, S.Y. 2023-2024, using proportionate random sampling at Eastern Quezon College. Most respondents were 18-19 years old (53%), female (55%), and in Grade 12 (60%). The HUMSS strand represented the largest group (44%), while ABM was the smallest (25%). Among habit-forming behaviors, drinking alcohol had the highest average mean of 3.13, indicating it as a primary effect of peer pressure on students’ behavior and their way of dealing with peers. Skipping classes had the lowest average mean of 2.99. The study concluded that students were most likely to drink alcohol due to peer pressure. There was no significant difference in the effects of peer pressure on habit-forming behavior when respondents were grouped by age and grade level. However, a significant difference was found when respondents were grouped by sex or strand.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Angellaine Kyla Erivera","Melchor Espiritu","Maria Celerina Oreta","Donata Cadag"],"date":"2025-05-30","doi":"10.70838/pemj.380907","id":5375,"issue":9,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"1e79557919e814daff14bab73fa5028511ff5bad936e6dbbbbcba07664ea7608","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Effects of Peer Pressure on the Habit-Forming Behavior of Selected Senior High School Students in a Private School in Gumaca, Quezon","volume":38}
