{"abstract":"This descriptive-correlational study investigated the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) applications on mathematics learning among 100 purposively sampled Grade 11 STEM students at Mindanao State University-Sulu. The study assessed AI's impact across four dimensions: accessibility and usage, conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and motivation and engagement, also considering demographic factors like gender, age, parents’ educational attainment, and parents’ average monthly income. Most respondents were female, aged 17 or below, with college-educated or post-graduate parents, and half from low-income families. Students generally agreed on AI tools' accessibility and usefulness but only partially agreed on AI's impact on conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and motivation and engagement, suggesting AI supported learning but was not a primary tool. No significant differences in AI impact were found based on gender, age, or parents’ average monthly income. However, a significant difference in accessibility and usage was noted based on parents’ educational attainment, indicating students with more educated parents had better AI tool access. Significant positive correlations were found among all AI impact subcategories, especially between problem-solving skills and motivation and engagement. The study recommends structured AI integration in mathematics education, equitable access to AI tools, AI-enhanced strategies by teachers, and AI use as a supplementary resource by students.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Rumida Muktar"],"date":"2025-05-24","doi":"10.70838/pemj.380508","id":5307,"issue":5,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"27010c110a1fddceea4ed0cababd9d757896d374a4fb291bece711d90045e4dc","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Mathematics Learning among Stem Students of Grade 11 Senior High School at MSU-Sulu","volume":38}
