{"abstract":"This qualitative, descriptive-phenomenological research explored challenges and coping mechanisms of five purposively selected educators in a rural Davao del Sur school during the MATATAG Curriculum implementation in the Philippines. In-depth interviews and focus group discussions revealed four major challenges: insufficient and delayed instructional materials, technological and internet connectivity limitations, difficulties in curriculum contextualization, and lack of stakeholder understanding and support. These issues led to teaching interruptions and learner disengagement. Teachers employed resilient and innovative coping strategies, including localized teaching approaches, utilization of offline and improvised resources, community collaboration, innovative assessment techniques, and reliance on peer support. While these approaches partially addressed gaps, they did not eliminate all issues caused by persistent structural factors like resource availability and digital access. This interface of challenges and strategies both enhanced student creativity and participation, but also led to gaps in conceptual understanding due to infrastructural problems. The study highlights the need for sustainable, policy-driven reforms, recommending resource upgrading, improved rural technological infrastructure, flexible curriculum design, enhanced stakeholder engagement, and continuous teacher development. It affirms that while teacher innovation is vital, sustained curriculum implementation requires robust institutional and systemic support.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Reyin Joy Wabingga","Juvy Love Tomakin"],"date":"2025-05-20","doi":"10.70838/pemj.380302","id":5273,"issue":3,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"1b3b7a80c60242c7e98ade9e428b7702ee974225fff47b3dd31178e7d8b7685b","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"From Challenges to Solutions: How Teachers in Remote Schools Cope with the MATATAG Curriculum Shift","volume":38}
