{"abstract":"This study aimed to determine the factors that influence College of Education students at MSU-TCTO in choosing Education as their college course and to determine different approaches in managing the course they are currently taking. This phenomenological-qualitative study was conducted with selected students at the College of Education, MSU-TCTO, utilizing an interview guide validated by a panel of experts. Data gathered were transcribed, thematically analyzed, and interpreted. Based on the findings, the common factors that influence students in choosing Education as their college course were parental discretion/ influences, external influences, affordability, practicality, personal preference and interest, and socio-economic problems. Moreover, respondents yielded different approaches to manage the courses they are currently taking, such as self-determination, overcoming fear of subject difficulties, perseverance and self-confidence, personal preference and interest, and developing participation and study habit/skills. In conclusion, several factors influenced the COED students, and their courses were not solely chosen by themselves. Because the influence of others may help or hinder students to succeed in life, appropriate assistance must be provided, such as seminars or conferences on career guidance, to assist them with course placements and help them invest their full potentials.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Shar In Sadjail","Darwina Sansawi","Mona-Allea Matolo"],"date":"2022-08-16","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.6994851","id":502,"issue":8,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"232e0718541bbb25c1bf5e5b4abb66667726b047d7b02b2089ab7b837f49f092","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Factors Influencing Students in Choosing their College Course","volume":3}
