{"abstract":"This study entitled Competence in Teaching MAPEH in Relation to Academic Performance of Pupils: Basis for Capability Building Program determined the relationship of the competence of teachers in teaching MAPEH to academic performance of their pupils. Respondents were the one hundred twelve elementary school teachers handling MAPEH subjects; descriptive research design was used. Data were collected using the researcher-made questionnaire duly validated and tested reliable. Results revealed that most of the elementary teachers teaching MAPEH were 51 years old and above, female, have been in the service for 6-10 years, with bachelor’s degree, non-MAPEH major, and attended seminars and trainings in school level. The level of competence of teachers in teaching MAPEH is high. The academic performance of pupils is very satisfactory. There was no significant difference in the competence of teachers in teaching MAPEH when grouped according to age, sex, teaching position, years in service, educational attainment, specialization, and trainings attended.
