{"abstract":"The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted and exacerbated educational disparities, making recovery and catch-up programs crucial. 'Catch-Up Fridays' emerged as a strategy to address learning losses and provide targeted support. This descriptive-quantitative and correlational study investigated teachers’ preparedness, experiences, and challenges in implementing Catch-Up Fridays. The study involved 100 teacher participants from School A, District One, Quadrant 1.1, who completed a survey questionnaire. Findings indicate that teachers' overall preparedness for Catch-Up Fridays was positive. The majority of teachers encountered moderate challenges and experienced moderate to high success with the program. Pearson correlation results showed a very strong and statistically significant relationship between teachers' preparedness and their experiences, including the challenges faced. The study suggests that teachers need first-hand experience with Catch-Up Fridays and consistent use of diverse teaching techniques to enhance student comprehension and academic performance. Support for teachers through in-service trainings, in-school briefings, professional development programs, seminars, and trainings on new assessment and teaching strategies for junior high school is recommended.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Marilyn Bayhi","Sarah Samson"],"date":"2025-03-08","doi":"10.70838/pemj.330208","id":4629,"issue":2,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"d3f83cc8b66293ce829b6f84767ad5d9ec9f5ffdaf6da2f877652952ecb7d649","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Teachers’ Preparedness, Experiences and Challenges on the Implementation of Catch-Up Fridays a Basis for Improvement","volume":33}
