{"abstract":"This study correlated the emotional intelligence of 80 senior high school learners with their academic performance in Gumaca, Quezon, S.Y. 2023-2024. The majority of respondents were 17 years old and older, predominantly female, and had outstanding academic performance. Most families had a monthly income of 5,000 below. The sample included 40 Grade 11 and 40 Grade 12 students. Senior high school students exhibited a high emotional intelligence score of 41.72. The highest percentage of emotional intelligence adaptation in academic performance was observed when studying, with indicator number 9, “I can motivate myself to learn and feel enjoyment, happiness, and pride to have better academic performance,” having the highest mean of 4.89. Indicator number 3, “I can use it to guide me in my thoughts and actions,” had the lowest rank with a mean of 3.98, interpreted as Much Agree (MA). The average mean indicated that most respondents adapt their emotional intelligence to improve academic performance. A strong and positive correlation was found between emotional intelligence and academic performance, significant at 0.01 alpha (2 tailed) and 0.05 alpha (2 tailed), concluding that emotional intelligence enhances students' academic performance. This suggests that integrating emotional intelligence into the curriculum and managing students' emotional needs can significantly boost academic achievement.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["John Leo Mark Gallego","Maria Celerina Oreta","Isabelita DeTorres","Melchor Espiritu"],"date":"2025-02-11","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.14850343","id":4485,"issue":1,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"f4e99e0fd65a62767090221f3bfe3fb73544c0f0809c697c0e580758a92b60e1","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Correlating Emotional Intelligence of Senior High School Learners with their Academic Performance in Gumaca Quezon","volume":32}
