{"abstract":"This study aimed to evaluate the factor structure of the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) with a sample of 366 undergraduate students in the Philippines, aged 15 and above. The respondents' profiles were identified by year level, gender, and age, with a predominant demographic of first-year college students aged 20-21, particularly female respondents. The CFA analysis showed that most RSES indicators had sufficient variance, except for indicator 8: “I wish I could have more respect for myself”. Using JAMOVI, the model demonstrated a good fit with a CFI of 0.918, SRMR of 0.0622, and RMSEA of 0.0864 (P < .001), although the TLI was significantly lower at 0.892. The sample size of 366 was sufficient to fit the model using chi-square, producing a significant P value < .001. The findings conclude that gender disparity in self-esteem emerges during adolescence and persists into middle adulthood, with gender differences being culture-based phenomena. It is recommended that gender disparities be addressed by widespread systems incorporating universal sociocultural variables and genetically determined biological processes, extending beyond culture and specific instances in the Philippines.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Emna Duque","Alma Sheilla Liquigan-Escarcha","Erwin Sario","Elmer DeJose"],"date":"2025-01-06","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.14603094","id":4299,"issue":2,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"b3de47c6c45087fb5ec9ac8c372445ebb7b27d9c94a0c2ee8887cde3daf6954f","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Confirmatory Factor Analysis of Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale","volume":30}
